Andersonville is about the infamous Confederate prison in Georgia, where nearly 13,ooo or a total 45,ooo Union soldiers died due to starvation and disease brought on by overcrowding & unsanitary conditions. The prison was to hold 8,000 men & the numbers ballooned to several times that number. The treatment of prisoners led to a trial after the war of Captain Wirz, the officer in charge of the camp.
